Cosmos Business Systems has undertaken the expansion of the central infrastructure of the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC/2021) of the Cyprus Institute, noting that this is the third one it is installing at the Institute and the 11th overall in Greece and Cyprus. The project is being implemented by CBS IT Systems.
The new system is an extremely important addition to the existing National High Performance Computer (HPC) infrastructure of Cyprus, with the main aim of providing the necessary resources to the research and academic community. The solution will consist of multiple Lenovo SR670 modular servers powered by NVIDIA A100 GPUs, will be interconnected with the latest Infiniband HDR200 technology and will deliver more than 0.5Pflop/s.
The infrastructure will be supported by the necessary number of Management and Front End nodes. For the effective cooling of the system, new innovative direct water cooling systems were used directly on the electronic circuits without energy-intensive Heat Exchangers. Cosmos has been steadily investing in HPC and Data Center technologies since 2014 and has the most installed supercomputing systems in Southeastern Europe. At the same time, by representing NVIDIA, it is infinitely expanding its expertise in the field of Big Data Analysis and AI.
