CBS IT Systems Cyprus, in collaboration with Lenovo, successfully hosted the “AI and Infrastructure Solutions” event on 21 October 2026, bringing together customers, partners, and representatives from the business and technology communities.
At the heart of the event was a key question: How can investments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) be translated into measurable business value?
The event opened with remarks from Nikolas Kolokasidis, Country Manager of CBS IT Systems Cyprus, followed by a presentation from Vasilis Kapenis, Infrastructure Solutions Group Sales Manager GR & CY at Lenovo, who outlined the technological infrastructure supporting the new era of Artificial Intelligence.
Particular interest focused on the presentation by Dr George Tsouloupas, Head of Supercomputing and Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure at the Cyprus Institute, who highlighted the capabilities of High Performance Computing (HPC) and the project implemented at the Cyprus Institute in collaboration with CBS IT Systems Cyprus, leveraging Lenovo technology.
This was followed by a panel discussion entitled “Artificial Intelligence in Practice: From National Strategy to Business Value”, focusing on organisational readiness, selecting applications that deliver tangible benefits, and designing infrastructure capable of supporting future business needs.
Dr Dimitris Skourides, Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation and Technology of the Republic of Cyprus, explored the prospects for AI adoption in Cyprus and the national strategic priorities guiding its implementation, connecting technological progress with the needs of the economy and the business community.
Dr George Tsouloupas focused on the practical adoption of AI through the Digital Innovation Hub, which supports businesses in adopting digital technologies and strengthening their competitiveness. Particular emphasis was placed on the Proof of Value approach, enabling businesses to test specific AI applications and assess their business value before proceeding with broader implementation.
The operational dimension of AI adoption was addressed by Michalis Tyrimos, CEO of Capacitor Partners, who emphasised that AI-driven transformation requires a holistic business approach, strategic planning, and effective change management.
The importance of technology infrastructure was highlighted by Vasilis Palaiologos, LE & PS Sales Manager GR & CY at Lenovo, who stressed that planning AI applications must go hand in hand with timely decisions about the infrastructure needed to support them, both today and in the future. He also linked scalability, energy efficiency, sustainability, and the cost of delayed decisions to the return on AI investments.
The event’s central conclusion was that Artificial Intelligence is not simply another IT tool, but a strategic business investment that requires clear objectives and measurable outcomes. Realising its full potential depends on a well-defined strategy, appropriate data, modern technology infrastructure, and organisational readiness.
By combining Lenovo’s technology infrastructure with its expertise in designing and implementing complex projects, CBS IT Systems Cyprus enables businesses in Cyprus to evaluate the practical value of their AI investments. Through its consultative approach, CBS IT Systems Cyprus continues to strengthen its role as a strategic technology partner, helping organisations move beyond experimentation towards applications that deliver measurable business benefits.
